Open Terrain, 2016-ongoing
The Apple Vision Pro has me revisiting my head-gaze navigation work from 2016–2018. My focus is pretty straightforward: art as experience. Environments you move through by simply looking—no controllers, no interface. Just your attention and the space. That quiet coupling between steady gaze and slow movement through terrain and light is where I want the work to inhabit.
I’m building this for clinical settings, notably the neuro-modulation department at Mt. Sinai, because the patients there could use exactly what this kind of experience offers: a pause, a shift in perception, a different relationship with the moment they’re in. Art doing what art necessarily does, but in a place that rarely provides a way to get out and experience curiosity and a bit of wonder.
